    For Sale - 1982 XS650 clean $1450.00

Saratoga New York I am selling my 1981 Yamaha XS650 with 13,500 miles. I bought this bike this past spring with plans to build my second custom XS650 but my plans have changed. I put about 20-30 miles on it before it was parked in my garage for the summer. As of right now it just needs a...

    Ignition issues again..no spark PAMCO

I ordered the 6822. My bike is stock so I didn't feel I need anything high performance. I hope that one day I can feel comfortable going farther than 10 miles from my house. I have to leave town for business so I can't work on it till next week ;(

    Ignition issues again..no spark PAMCO

I bought it last summer probably around July. My bike had one on it when I bought it used from the prior owner and that went bad in a similar fashion as how the bike died this weekend. You sent me another one and that also did not work out of the box as I mentioned above. The replacement...

    Ignition issues again..no spark PAMCO

I've ruled out a shorted wire only because I am not getting spark even using my aligator clip test scenario. The issue has to be the coil or the PAMCO but the question is why did it fail. I can only spend another $200 and hope for the best.

    Ignition issues again..no spark PAMCO

How could a bad cap caused the issue if I have the 15a fuse after the cap ? Plus I am bypassing the cap in the test procedure. I know it's easy to say bad wiring, but this system has all of 5 wires and it was running like a top for two weeks. It's kinda hard to mess up the wiring. red and...

    Ignition issues again..no spark PAMCO

Also if in fact the regulator did pump too much voltage frying the system, I am confused as to why my 15amp fuse didn't protect me ? This is why I think that it wasn't the regulator that caused the issue. I think it was just a simple failure on the part of the coil or the PAMCO. I'm using...

    Ignition issues again..no spark PAMCO

I dont use a light I use a nice meter. I did not test the voltage when the bike was running. It had been running fine for two weeks so I really didn't expect there would be a problem. When I noted I was getting 12v at the coil this was when I was running the "TEST" procedure with a battery...

    Ignition issues again..no spark PAMCO

The PMA is new this year only two weeks old after rebuilding the bike. It ran fine for two weeks so I would think its a voltage issue however yesterday is the first time I went full throttle. So if the added RPM crested enough voltage to kill it I guess that's an option. Wouldn't the fuse pop...

    Ignition issues again..no spark PAMCO

Finally got my bike running after a winter rebuild and it had been running great. Went out on a ride yesterday and it left me stranded on the side of the road with no spark. I'm running the PAMCO and this is the 3rd unit I've had since I bought the bike. First unit left me dead on the side...

Storing elctrical inside faux oil tank...also PMA swap YES or NO ?

Yes I understand I need the PMA do remove the battery. I think I am more so looking to get rid of anything I don't need for the most clean look but if I have to keep the newer reg/rec out in the open it kinda defeats the purpose unless I tuck it under the gas tank. At that point I might as...

Storing elctrical inside faux oil tank...also PMA swap YES or NO ?

This may seem like silly questions but this is my first bike build. I recently tore down a 75 I bought this past spring to clean it up and make it "mine." I am torn between doing the PMA swap and running no battery but at the same time to save myself the $300 in parts I might just keep the...

    3.2ohm from primary to core....bad ?

In trying to sort out my lack of spark last night I think I may have shorted out the coil trying to run jumper wires to bypass non essential parts. I tested one primary to the core and get 3.2. I tested from the other primary to the core and get nothing (open) If I tweaked another coil I...

New PAMCO and green coil...still no spark

still no spark...sending PAMCO back for testing.

    Coil testing? primary terminal?

Also you should never turn the key on or attempt to start the bike with the plug wire unhooked from the plug. ALWAYS have the plug attached to a plug wire and the plug grounded to the motor before you try to kick over the motor. It sounds like you held the wire in your hand with no plug. This...

    Coil testing? primary terminal?

The primaries are either of the terminals on the coil. The ones with the red wire and green wire. You can flip those wires around so there technically isn't one that's primary and one that's secondary. Set your meter to read ohms and touch one on the connection for the green wire and the...

New PAMCO and green coil...still no spark

I have very simplified wiring. I have no directionals no horn and kickstart only. Black wire from PAMCO goes to ground. checked this and also ran to a different ground point. Green wire goes to coil. Red wire connects to power from ignition switch, through kill switch( that I bypassed) and...

New PAMCO and green coil...still no spark

I switched it to the new rotor. I just got in from installing the new battery and still no dice. I have 11.6v at both the primary and secondary coils. I have 10.76v at the point where the red wire goes into the PAMCO board I have 11.6v at the point the black wire goes into the PAMCO board...
