My 81 build started today after a first time two year build. I just can't thank the guys enough that have helped with responses. Lowered the idle with the screw but it stays revved after throttle twist so pretty sure it's a manifold! Just super stoked I can go out and crank her. Thanks a million for everyone that helped!

no idea about timing or how to check it. Just pumped it finally fired. The butterflies arent pulled at all from the tension on the cable. it idles and sounds so good after key is turned off! I have to twist the throttle to kill it!

Finally got my xs to fire after a two year build! Only concern is it revs super high after start up and freaks me out so i kill it and it lopes at idle for a short bit before dying! Carb adjustment maybe? So pumped!:D

It fired!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Holy hell. Two years in the works. Its revs high after start which i get nervous and turn the key off! After i turn off switch it lopes for about 5 second until it dies. Adjustment on carbs maybe? Stoked as hell!!

That is black with white stripe on ignition unit to black on pick up correct? Not white with black stripe?

Yes sir. I have spark when i kick it just coughs at bottom of stroke and wanted to check wiring. I have fuel also.

I have no solid red in my ignition box. Everything else is ok. I have the grey from pick up going to g/w and the orange from pick up going to w/r on ignition box. Nothing!

the pick up coil color is different from the simplified diagrams. I have an orange, grey and ground. Orange to r/w, and grey to g/w...? Or grey to w/r? Shit!!!!!!!
