    What drill size for the BS34 slides?

    Thanks for the replies. I did this mod on my GS850 (the same BS carbs as on the XS) - the drill size 7/64 is a part of the Dynojet tuning kit - and the mod DID make a difference - it helps the jet needle lift faster. Granted though, that's a 4 cyl engine with a 4-1 exhaust.

    Thanks! On my engine, too, "447" is clearly visible on the upper crankcase (stamped vertically) but no other number is there...

    Thanks for this thread. I was able to identify my newly acquired XS as a 1980 Jap model SG(frame # 3G5 000xxx) But my engine is only stamped as "447". Is that (un)usual?
