    XS1 Muffler LOUD

My daily rider is a Honda 599 (a.k.a. Hornet). My neighbors are always commenting on how quiet it is when I ride by them while they are jogging. Its a sewing machine under 4 grand and a SCREAMER over 8.

    XS1 Muffler LOUD

I've already got set in boxes waiting for a bike to put them on. Otherwise I'd snatch up a pair. You can throttle play those babys like Satchmo's horn. And da be PRETTY as Lady Day.

    Differences between various XS650's

550 for a titled runner is a STEAL. Good luck matching that opportunity. If I was doing another one I think I'd make it BDR worthy.

    Rephasing, What is it?

those torque curve differences are almost certainly cam change induced not rephase artifact

    Rephasing, What is it?

this comment addresses a slightly different question which is basically whether it is wiser to perfect the original design or make significant alterations to it, blueprinting would be beneficial whether you rephased or not. While no one can argue with "its your build" it is not a bad idea to...

    Rephasing, What is it?

lets cut the bs. rephasing reduces vibration that is its ONLY advantage. the net résistance is EXACTLY the same as stock and there is ZERO increase in torque. If you want a little more torque with the same cc go with the original design rod /piston, if you want a lot more, Wiseco sells cc's...

old XSers never die they just smell that way

I'm back in Austin Texas after a decade in the Great NorthWet (Olympia WA). I saw an ad selling an xs650 project and it caused a return of my XS650 fever. After looking at modern bikes, searching for the "if I only had one motorcycle" replacement for my DR350 and FJ1200 with a critical eye to...

Is the Royal Enfield becoming the new XS? S&S offer performance parts already.

The concept of a " new XS650" strikes me as rather like a "new XKE" Ikons of another era are not reborn. And while the Brit-bike lines certainly influenced the design of what would become Yamaha"s first four stroke, the 650 Twin Yamaha, I need not remind you, was a GERMAN motorcycle. So...

    Health care vent

BO is about as socialist as Goldman Saches (his greatest contributor) he gave the insurance industry a license to steal and put the Banksters back in charge. He is Wall Street's boy So please do not insult Socialists by putting that label on him.

    Rephasing, What is it?

could be. He describes it as "a replica of the AMA National race winning cylinder head from the '70s by Harry Lilli"

    Rephasing, What is it?

I think MMM's head is an OW copy. I didn't know the vintage boys were re-phasing (I'd guess it is the road-racers and not the flat-trackers). I'll look into that. You know there's no more power to be had by spinning a motor past its "breathing space"
