After an absolutely lousy year that took me away from the XS, yesterday allowed me back.
Have, previously, had problems getting spark at the plugs. Did this , undid this and hit the starter button and the Heavens opened up and I got a spark at the left side plug,

'83 XS 650
Had a "dummy plug" spark checker on the wire, grounded to a fin, and aimed at the plug. 1 spark made the big jump.
Anticipating better results, put a fresh battery in. Had to finish my temp. remote fuel tank ( a water bottle with valves and hose ) so called the day at that point.
The question becomes Can I expect better results due to fresh battery ?
Do i anticipate continued spark problems ?
Where do I look from here ?
Back again so this is a great opportunity to again THANK everyone who has helped me thru the years and those who have helped us all with some great posts. Was into the "clutch" post by INXS yesterday.
