So, I have decided to build another bike, completely opposite of my last build. I am going with a 70's style brat build.

I have purchased the brat kit from visual impact, an axed 2.2 gallon tank from lowbrow customs, narrow window bars, and a bunch of other stuff.

I will be ordering my PMA after Christmas and will begin to rewire everything from that point.

I will take a shit ton of pictures and post them as soon as possible.

So, for now, here is what I got.......

Everything is mocked up and will be welding on the 26th, too much going on this weekend to get it done. My tank should be here tomorrow and will get that mounted Monday as well.

The kit is very good quality. I have to redo where the kit mounts to the backbone though, I was in a rush last night and may have cut a little uneven...

UPS says that the tank should be at my house by the end of the day tomorrow (Wednesday). It is the axed style, high mount from lowbrow customs, http://www.lowbrowcustoms.com/index.php?l=product_detail&p=888. I am going to do a mega flake candy green, with some 70's style graphics, I don't know if I want to do lace, geometric designs, scales, or what, any input would be appreciated. I do know that I want gold leafing on it as well, trying to get my creative juices flowing.

Oh, and for the frame I was thinking about media blasting it to bare metal then clearing over that with a gold tinted clear.

So, my tank came in today!!! It is badthefuckass. I just have it sitting on the backbone for now just so I could take some pictures. Still have to get it coated, do the body work, and get paint on it. I was thinking a really dark green (almost black) with lighter green tiny flake, then 4-5 shades lighter green lace overlay, then some design on the sides with a mega flake green (same as the green flake biltwell helmet) with gradient to black. (I'll post some pictures of what I'm talking about later.

Anyhoo, enjoy the pics and all comments are welcome.

Just a quick update:

Lowbrow window bars 7/8" ordered
Tail light ordered
Translucent green fuel line ordered
New throttle ordered
Sparkle green grips ordered.

I will be welding the brat kit probably Thursday at the latest, my tank will be getting coated this week as well.

I am however, having some difficulty with the mounting of the tank. Option 1- carrige bolts welded to the backbone (sticking up) then the tank will slide on those (drilled holes in the mounting tabs) then wing nuts (rubber washers and such)
Option 2- just the same thing but with threaded dowel rods, I'm not too sure yet.

I will also be taking pics by the weekend.

Make sure to check out bungking.com too, they have bungs all over the place.

I'd use threaded stepped bungs welded in the backbone for those style tank mounts.

So I just got my exhaust done this morning, and if I do say so myself, it is awesome....

I am torn on which look I want to go with, Chrome, Gold plated with black heat wrap, or black with natural heat wrap. Give me some suggestions.

Just a suggestion, but since the exhaust is very noticeable, I would have used a mandrel bent bend instead of the squeeze bend. It does not look very good. No offense. Also the tip does not look like it fits very well. It's just the rest of the bike looks very nice and I would hate to see an eye sore on it. :D

I can't stand Chrome or Gold, so Black and Natural would be my choice.

Yeah, sorry guys, the tip is not finished. I need something that would limit the amount of moisture that could accumulate in the pipe. That is why I will probably go with the slant tip. I was going to do a diesel truck flapper valve, but I just saw it on one of Paul jr.'s bikes and have since changed my mind.

Suggestion #1

Suggestion #2 (not this exactly, but something similar and seamless)

Both would look good with a 90 degree bend point to the rear I think. Might be a touch too high though actually.

My bars, grips, tail light and fuel line came in yesterday. My tail light will be mounted differently, I just wanted to see what it looked like on the bike for the time being. I also have a new throttle coming in, I would have went internal throttle but I haven't had much success with those in the past. Also, I am debating weather or not to run a front brake, I love the super clean look of the bars without a master cylinder, but I also love the practicality of a front brake.... Suggestions?
