1973 TX500 Thoughts

So a bike showed up on CL here in town.

I have an 80 XS right now I've done a fair amount of work to but it sounds like a trade could be worked out. I'm not too excited about dropping down to a 500 but damn it's a nice looking old bike. Anyone here know much about them. I've read they had some head issues which is a draw back. Also says they're a little quirkey but whatever. I'm not after advice so much as to which to own so much as what's the deal with them?

I had a 1976 XS500C for 13 years. I bought it new and really enjoyed riding it. Never had any problems with it. The engine has a balancer, which makes the engine run almost vibration free (unlike our beloved XS650's )

If I remember correctly it had about 48 HP, and excellerated very well. They run a little higher rpm than XS650's.................about 4800 rpm at 100 km/h or 60 mph.
