1981 Frame Question

So I'm working on moving the shocks on my bike and I noticed that the left side of the frame is bent different than the right side where the battery is supposed to be.

Is this normal for this year or do I have an odd ball frame?

If it's normal, does anyone have a left over rear end from a hardtail conversion, that would be willing to cut off the section and mail to me???
