Here's the very beginning of my build. Mocking up tank, cut and weld drop seat...next to locate and weld shock mounts and cut a few more tabs and such.
well...today was able to do a little choppin'...cut off passenger peg mounts, but alas, somethings just shouldn't get chopped (can't believe I'M saying that) so I left the part of the right side pass peg mount that holds the rear brake light switch and return spring for the rear brake pedal (couldn't think of a better way to mount the rear brake light switch, so I left it there). Other than that I did some grinding to clean up the cuts.
Polished lowers, booted em', welded up the shock tabs for rear, lowered forks 2", started on a pattern for a seat pan...can't remember if I forgot anything...oh, and have my little helper holdin' the shocks for the pic...cool kid...
Swingarm bushings out, laced and trued rear wheel with mikes stainless spokes...next to throw engine back in frame for tank fitment/drilling, battery fitment, coil mount, etc. Then weld all tabs/mounts and get the frame powder coated...pics to come....
Well...it's been a bit since I've updated this...things have been moving slowly as I stare at the project and get ideas...but today I got some work done. Designed a set of forward controls based a set 'missle150' built for himself. I modified it some to fit my needs and use less hardware. Anywho..here's a pic of today's progress...
So....I had to bite the freakin bullet and get a lowbrow wassell tank. The old wassell I had just wasn't cuttin it style wise. So... I also got the seat pan done today and monday will weld up the tabs and support and get to foaming and material. Here's the pics of the day...
It's been a little while since I've updated this...controls are all welded up and ready for paint/powdercoat...tank bungs are welded in frame and on tank tabs with a leather washer between metal...and converting to foot clutch hand shift thanks to Irish prick...I'll get pics up soon...and more to come...might even have a special surprise offering to all xs forum members...stay tuned...
