I see on 650 Central there is a"650 Central Premium BS34 Jet Kit"
It mentions a drill for for slide dampening modification
This was something that came up in tuning the Hawk NT650 but I havn't seen anything pertaining to Mikuni 34s on the XS650.
Anyone done any drilling to modify slides?

If you go back to their site, in the column on the left at the bottom, click on minton mods. I think it's in there. A guy who's house I did some work at last year talked about it. I guess some of his friends who race the xs650's do this.

Drilling out the hole "desensitizes " the slide. That was the word used by MMM when I talked with him about it. I have the drill size wrote down in my notes if you want it.

The mod is suppposed to let the slide rise quicker.
But you run the chance of it "fluttering" wide open.

I read the Minton Mods. Thanks for the link.
Interesting info there but nothing on the drilling.
It would be better to get all the info before drilling holes in my sliders.
However, it looks like larger bore carbs would be useful on my 1980 Special.

The hole is drilled in the slide. You enlarge the existing hole. Supposed to increase throttle response, but I also remember something about it's no substitute for old non-supple diaphrams. This coming from my less than stellar memory!

The drill size for my 79's oem carbs per MMM is 7/64. Along with Uni Pods, rejetted mains and pilots, Omars 1/2 mile pipes with head and pipe outlet inserts
