78 xs Pamco 90 degree

Hi everyone , I just bought a great 78 xs 650. It has a Pamco ignition, but it has a 90 degree rotor. I can't find anything about this system, it must be old. I'm getting spark but it won't crank, could be something else but I was just trying to set the base timing, or at least check it . At Tdc the ignition is line up like a cross + or a plus sign. Is this correct?

Also when the stator says Tdc it's not actually on Tdc, by way of plug check, it back fired hard one time, and felt almost hydro locked with a loud clanking sound. It appears to be mechanically timed correctly. At least nothing is hitting

It's not timed right mechanically, can is off I can hear it hitting
