Oh Ya, that is a simple inspection to look at the cam lobes. Good idea. Here is a burnt up exhaust lobe exampleOpen an exhaust valve cover, if you look in you can see some of the cam faces, how do they look?
The lobes do look “not good”!
..but should it not have a more Varying sound if that was the source since the cam is not loaded all the time
because of the valve clearance
Take the plugs out and spin it with the starter. Running is too fast to see the crank gear.@skull-I didn't even know there were serial #'s on there. They do match 3E98 on both. The LH side fit looks worse than the RH side.
@Jim-I did notice a bit of clutch wobble.

It's interesting. I know it sounds better running with the cover off and no oil . Are there corresponding marks on the clutcht? The clutch might be put together wrong. Plenty of good information on here about clutch parts and order of assembly.Scarring? Actually look at this.
