I've been unemployed since July so before I accept the generous offering of financial assistance by my family, and to clear my conscience, I must first exhaust all of my own potential cash resources. So, sadly, I put up for sale my 79 Yamaha XS650 Special 2F Street Tracker. Clean title, recent inspection sticker, registered and available for pick up in Brooklyn, NY. I am also listing this locally on Craigslist.

Bought stock in 2009 with 9,000 miles on it:

I've since ditched the speedometer so I don't know what the miles are anymore but I've only ridden this in New York City the last two years, so I'd be surprised if I put an additional 2,000 miles on it since.

What has been done to the bike over the last two years:

• Pamco electronic ingition
• Permanent magnet alternator conversion (batteryless: kick-start only) - Mr. Riggs adaptor, Banshee rotor, VFR500 stator, regulator/rectifier combo. Removed battery box and extra frame tabs, made under-seat fiberglass tray to hold capacitor and wiring.
• New simplified wiring harness
• XS Performance Stainless Steel Headpipes - 1.75" (45mm.) OD
• XS Performance Reverse Cone Megaphone Mufflers
• XS Performance torque inserts
• XS Performance Oil Filter/Cooler Kit
• Carbs rebuilt
• Pod filters
• MX throttle + custom throttle cable
• Tapered steering bearings
• Tarozzi fork brace
• Bronze swing arm bushings
• New tires (May 2011) - Bridgestone Spitfire
• Painted the wheels
•*Rotors drilled
• Omar's Dirt Track fiberglass seat - installation required removal of rear frame loop

This is by no means a showroom bike, its a bit more Mad Max-utilitarian in terms of finish and craftsmanship (that's how I roll).

Its a great fast bike with a really great sound.

Here are the current issues: An elusive carb air-leak causes a rough idle/occasional stall until the bike is fully warmed up. Retarded placement of headlight on/off switch - sorry.

Hell, you need something to work on over the winter right?

It ain't nearly as clean now as it is in those pics (taken in June of 2011) - its got a summer's worth of grime on it now but is the same bike underneath.

I'll include the original front fender which may or may not be needed to get it inspected in mid-2012 - depends on where you go.

I'm looking for $2000. BUY IT and pick it up in Brooklyn, NY.
