82 XS not charging

Hey,
My 82 XS stoped charging the battery this week and i wanted to know what would be the first place to start checking? I have a multimeter but dont know much about useing it past checking voltage. Im gonna check out the brushes today and go from there.

i found the stator rings carboned up bad. I cleaned them and still no charge :-(

Are you following Curly's guide step by step?

i found the problem. The connector for the regulator was corroede BAD the red wire was broke off. I cut off the connectors and fixed all the wires. Its charging now,not alot tho got 13.7 at 3,000 rpms with headlight on. Better that it was atleast its charging again. i got 25 volts AC from the white stator wires. The stator seems to be putting out good volts

when i had it last year it was charging at 14.5 i hope its good

I've got 2 with voltmeters mounted between the clocks and they're both around 13.75 to 14 when on throttle.
