I got a couple of engines with a flat tracker I recently bought. Looks like a ‘72 (has electric start) and a much later model, likely a ‘77.
They were part of the deal with the bike but cost some $$ to get from the East coast to to Oregon. Nothing remarkable I’m guessing, but worth a try - was hoping for an OU-72 🤣. Maybe good for educational purposes as I go through them.
Happy New Year all.

According to the serial number charts I have, your later motor came from a '78 Special.

I have the lower cases from a `72 if there is some reason you need or want that. Problem might be same as the last one as they are here in New York state!

Six months ago I decided to get an XS650. I now have 3 complete bikes and 2 extra engines. I need to figures out what I’m trying to accomplish 🤣. Im not trying be a collector, but it just sort of happens.
For now, my plan is:
1 stock street bike.
1 street tracker.
1 race bike.
Probably, I’m overloaded at that level.

Bill C---You will be ok, I feel you can't have to many bikes. My wife has a different opinion however.......
