Hello,

I'm new to the XS650 world, in fact I don't even have one or build them, my dad does and he is about as computer illiterate as they get. I'm looking for a drop in aftermarket aluminum swingarm or something that can be made to work relatively easy. The Motolanna one is not an option, its actually shorter than a stock 650 swingarm, we were hoping to be slightly longer or at least the same length.

Yeah, I've thought about those. He really wants aluminum. I found a CalFab one from an RD400F that might work with some minor reworking. Seems strange that with all the aftermarket parts out there that nobody makes one specific to the XS. I build RD350s and there's everything imaginable out there for those.

I just received my MotoLanna swinging arm today....total motorcycle porn! No need for Viagra.

Whilst it is about an inch shorter than OE there is still sufficient adjustment to keep it within the middle of the stock range.

The main issue you would need to address if running a drum rear is that the mounting point is on the underside. Not an issue for me as I intend to run an under-slung calliper.

They are a nice looking swingarm, no doubt about that. But the pics I saw of them on a bike it looked like the shocks were near vertical. I would hate to cut and weld on such a nice piece. That's why I think I'll go the used route. The Cal-Fab one I found is a nice looking piece as well.
