Air box

Hi, XS650D, the parts list shows silencers in the air boxes, mine are empty, should there be something in there? Roy.

They were made out of foam, My barn fresh 77 had them in the airboxes but they turned to dust as soon as I touched them. So it's a block of foam that fits in the intake tract with 3 or 4 holes bored through it.
