Any market for Suzuki GS1100?

I may have a chance to pick up an 1100 Zook (I'm assuming GS, pending more info and pix) for cheap.

Be strictly a Winter Fix It and Flip It project if it pans out.

This could be very interesting, for me personally, I think the GS1100 represented the pinnacle of the Japanese UJM’s of the early 80’s. I would think a standard GS could be worth a bit, they are nearly indestructible.
There were a lot of different iterations of that 1100, the standard, the cruiser, the rectangular headlight years, even dresser touring versions.

Find outa little more about the year and weather its the 8 valve or 16 valve 1100. There is a lot more out there for the 16 valve engines

Buddy had a GS1100 (early eighties) down in Ft Walton Beach. He went TDY one summer and asked me to keep it for him. Yes please...
That thing was a rocket ship. My arms are stretchin' out just thinkin' about it.

In my opinion, I believe you would have less success flipping a GS1100L than a standard model, much the same as a Yamaha Special. My personal favorite is the GS1000, an opinion shared by many.

Yes market highly favors chain drive models, basically true for all big bores of that era.

Best of all the UJM's in my opinion. It's hard to go wrong with any of them. Early 1100Ls were kind of frumpy looking, although the 1980 had the 16V motor.

Replace the oem regulator with a series regulator and it pretty much solves the only issue with early 80's Suzukis. I regret selling my 83 for a 1200 Bandit.

I don't think this is a really viable flip to make money though.

If you do get the Suzi, this is a valuable resourse...........the site has changed hands and some of the posts/links don't work..........the second pagelink, (same site), is the new owner, some don't work a well but between the 2 all of them will. BAT always goes pretty high on sale prices as far as I can tell. If you go that route you might be better off. Prices fluctuate wildly on older bikes depending on region, as well all know. I had to sell both of my big GSes for a pittance to get them to move. In another place, probably a different story.

Exactly the point to posting the BAT bike. Gives an idea of the range to top $ compared to a later model, (6 years), and the price asked.

On GS Resources the members complain about the price of bikes asking price if they are around the $3000.00 mark or above..........much the same a here, the members complain/balk about an asking price but that doesn't necessarily equate to the market price.

But the Big Suzie' don't seem to be as popular as some of the other big Honda and Kawasaki bikes, yet they are renowned for their reliability and handling and speed but lost it in the styling stakes on the early models

Over here the GS1000 was very popular. I had one and loved it. There seamed to be so many of them my friends joke was to call them the GS 1million.

I liked mine quite a bit. It was a real S, despite the side panels. A friend rescued it after a crash, and I bought it off him for $1500 back in 1999. Not original, as you can tell.
