Hello,

Im new at this site, great site by the way with some very nice bikes.(english not so great),

I was looking voor a hardtail project and i liked the xs650 motor the most(a part from the old trumps off course but they are more expansive).Anyhow i picked up a xs650 with hardtail frame already but i didnt like frame so mutch and noticed it was not orginal frame also but it was a good price and it had lots of mods.I was hoping to get some more info about the wheels because i never seen these before and the frontend too.So i started a project to do everything from scratch, from the neck a new custom frame(no weldon..A friend of mine is been welding on it so far..here are some mods that the previeous owner did know.

xs 650 1975 (big bore kit)
dell orto's phf 32mm
he thinks harley wheels and frontend

the things that going to be changed are.

-exhausts matt black with grey headerwrap
-rear fender(done)
-oval elektrical box
-new pegs
-new rearlight(stop)
-also don't know what to do about colour then(leave it raw metal or paint)

first 2 pics are how it was when i bought it and last 2 are progess so far(headlight had yellow foil to try but it's not so great:laugh:)

tips are welcome and if you know the wheels or frontend would be great..

thanks,

I very much like how the bike looked when you got it. The frame upgrade should really make it look cleaner. I like the wheels, and the front end. The seat, and tank are items you don't see everyday either. Good luck with the build, and keep posting pictures. Welcome to the site Geof.

Thanks dusty,i also like the fact that the tank is very rare,it has a fuel gauge line too(hard to see on the pics).i will keep posting updates..

im here again with a update, the welder has gotten some things done, still have some work to do such as rear brake install, chain install, pegs, elektrical needs to be back wired up again..I think i will leave it raw as it sits,to me its looks old en raw..or mayne an oldschool paintjob:)

Let me know what you guy's think

very nice bike, looks so beefy. what wheels and tires are those and whats the front end. im in love with it. also what are you doing with that original exhaust that was on it. id be interested in having it. looking forward to progress. keep up the killer style.

Hey there,I'm from Belgium to!!
At the moment I don't have a XS 650 but I'am searching for one.
Your bike looks awesome. Are you from the Dutch speaking side or the French speaking side? Otherwise we can talk in PM if you want.
I hope one day I have one to.

thx for the reactions guy's
@airwolfie ,that's a good idea about pinstriping the tank..

@jake horton, the 16" wheels are from a softtail heritage harley and frontend i think wideglide but the stam is not orginal of the xs650 and i thougt first 2 backwheels from xs650 but they are very different wheels..also the first exhaust i still have but im missing a piece because i was gonna throw it away hehe.

@hotrodbug im from the best side of belgium hehe dutch side that is..

hello again,

got some more pics..i put on new tyres avon mk2 same size tyre in front..new wiring and rear fender.I still have to put on new clutch because it's very hard to shift gears and it starts driving on its own when you put it in first:laugh:.

keep you posted, paint will be for in the winter..
