bending kick starter to clear rear set

I want to install rear sets on 79 special.probably from OMAR's.The installation looks pretty straightforward.I'm concerned about the difficulty of bending the kickstarter.I tried to find info on this without any success.can anyone help?

get hold of a SR 500 kick start same shaft size different angle

Another alternative is to buy a used kicker off e-bay usually pretty cheap and experiment with it. Put it in a vice and heat it with an oxy / accetlene torch till its cherry red and bend it to your liking.

A mapp gas torch will also work for those without O/A.

just a note, i've had bad luck bending kickstarters, leaves them weaker it seems.... you might end up with it bending when you kick... becareful the first couple of times. i would suggest quenching it if you get it red hot, if it cools too slow it will stay "soft".

thanks for your replies.It doesn't sound like anything I want to tackle.If it were easy I guess the people who sell the rear sets would do it.
