Bike Died while riding

I have a 1977 XS650. While riding it home the other night, the bikes headlight started giving out and eventually, the biked died. And wouldn't kick over. So i trailered it home.

I'm new to working on bikes. Know a few things but not too much. What is the process of elimination I need to take to fix this issue?

I don't believe it is a bad battery, the battery is new.

Anyways, I need help!
