My Boyer ignition coil failed, marked Gill on it for the blue box. Just wondering is there a replacement coil that can be used instead of the Boyer coil supplied with the Boyer ignition kit.

I bought a new blue box because my meter read 0.6 ohms on the Gills coil primary winding but I didn't subtract the resistance of the leads so it was a bad coil. Replaced it with a Nology Profire 06D coil amd it runs better than the Gills coil ever did.

"The newer system (Micro Power) uses the low resistance (0.6 ohm) dual tower coils, and are a wasted spark system - firing both spark plugs as the pistons approach TDC. The Micro Power system usually have a blue box, but some of the early ones are red (like mine)."

I fitted a coil for an RZ 350 (0.5 Ohm) to a XS 650 running a Boyer blue box micro power ignition.
New spacers were made to stop the timing plate sitting on skew as per Gorran Pearson.
