Hey all,

I am planning to do some upgraded brakes on my bike. Probably something like calipers from an early R1 as those had a 298mm rotor like the XS, and whatever rotor that will fit the bolt pattern.

Making up the spacer for the rotor offset won't be a big deal, but I just noticed today that the stock bolts on the stock rotor pass quite close to the speedo unit/cable. A smaller offset disc will probably hit it.

Just curious if anyone figured out a mod to do the brake swap and keep the mechanical speedo. If not, anyone got suggestions for what to do for a speedo instead? Going without a speedo is not an option in Germany, so don't even mention that one.

Thanks, I thought something like that might work out, but I wasn't sure.
Could I ask what exactly your set-up is for calipers and rotors?

I used the pandemonium setup with a Mikes XS performance rotor on left side of a mag and kept the speedo drive. Like Carbon, i swapped the bolts for button head hex screws, stainless. Used plenty of anti-seize to prevent galvanic corrosion and slit washers. Had to custom rotor spacers and caliper spacers to get it all spot on.
