BS38 Airboxes on BS34's?

Hey guys!

My roommate just got himself a 73 XS650 that the previous owner had put pods on, but included the stock paper air boxes in the box of parts he had included.

I ride a 82 xs and have always wanted to get rid of those ugly plastic airboxes on my BS34's, but in lieu of going right to pods I was wondering if those airboxes off his '73 would work on my '82? They look really amazing and imho way more interesting than pods.

Thoughts?

I doubt they'll fit. First off, the carb holders angle differently on the early bikes. Then you have the difference in the intake bell diameter. And last but not least, there won't be mounting points on your '82 that align with those old airboxes. I suppose if you dicked around long enough, you could make them fit, but the point I'm making is it's not a bolt-on swap, far from it most likely.
