bs38 carb issues

so i have my bs38 carbs off my 79 and i having some strange things happen with the diaphragm the left diaphragm is slower than the left when i lift and drop them but when i plug the air holes its quicker why is this ?

Check the left carb diaphragm for holes. It either has some small pin holes in it or it's not sealing properly around the outside edge. That's why that slide drops faster.
 
thanks man ya it wasn't seating right in the top now its much better and went down on the main 2 steps from a 135 its running grate now ... except on decel its popping in the carb every so often i poked around and it sounds like everyone is saying clean the pilot circuit or its to lean on the pilot
 
Check your mix screw settings too. Spec for your carb set is 2.25 turns out and they like/need about that. If they're set in at 1 or 1.5 turns, you can get that popping.
