I picked up a klx250 alloy swingarm fo my xs to put some length back into the wheelbase after de-raking it with the zx6r front end and I'm thinking it might be better as a scrambler/tracker hybrid now....especially with this high pipe.

1. What tires would be good for this build?

2. will 15" shocks intended for an xt500 be adequate for a lightened xs650?

3. Would it be safe to mod my top clamp to accept risers?

4. Anything else I'm forgetting?

Thanks

Well dont take my word for it, but scramblers are unbelievably fun, and a lot more versatile.

But, 15" shocks, and lower than stock forks?

Maybe some 13.5s would do ya..

And why not trade your top clamp for one with risers?

Yeah, I'm getting excited about tearing up some dirt roads.

My new swingarm should make the 15"s fit more like 14"s with the mounts furtherback. I'm mainly concerned that xt500 shocks would be too soft.

I would love to trade clamps but the Z1000 clamps that fit my forks are extremely sought after and hard to find.

No need to "fit into a box", build what you want... like a vintage supermoto of sorts. Sounds like something id build...
