Maybe this post should be moved or attached to an existing post but I thought it was share worthy. It was warm enough to work on the bike today without cranking up the heat in the garage so I thought I’d take another run at lubing the clutch cable. I posted elsewhere that I had purchased some titanium disulphide powder and squeeze bottles. I mixed up a 30ml batch last night using an unmeasured amount of powder (est 1/3 tsp) and mixed it with Amsoil synthetic 2 stroke oil, left over from the GT750. There have been many good posts about how to lube cables and was going to use one of them but came up this this at the last moment. If it’s been posted before my apologies.

Here‘s what I did:
1. Remove clutch cable from perch (backed off adjuster in side case) and prop it up as vertical as possible.
2. Get a piece of appropriately sized heat shrink tube - I used double wall 3/8” diameter with sealant. I cut 2-1/2” but trimmed off 1/4” later.
3. Wrestle the heat shrink tube over the lug at the end of the cable.
4. Position the heat shrink tube to just cover the ferrule.
5. Heat with a hot air gun or small torch to shrink the tube to the ferrule without shrinking the majority of the tube above it.
6. Allow to cool then pour in your favourite cable lube Into the “reservoir”.
7. Let stand and refill as necessary. My clutch cable took about 10ml before it started oozing out of the bottom.
8. If possible work the cable up and down to improve distribution and speed.
9. Once the lube is dripping out of the other end and the “reservoir” is empty, carefully cut the heat shrink tube off and discard.
10. Reassemble and adjust.

Clutch action is much easier now and this method produced minimal mess.
