Cam Chain Popin', yo

Hey guys,
Quick question re: the cam chain (one word?) tensioner. I've adjusted it so it's flush at room temp etc (I'm on a 79 2F so I think that's the D style tensioner....I THINK). Then when I rotate the engine through, it doesn't move at all except in ONE spot it pops out like 2mm, maybe 3. Should I be concerned? Am I doing something wrong? Any advice is greatly appreciated. Thanks :)

I might adjust it so that it's flush in the postion where it's 3mm out now. That would be looser.

If you aren't sure where you are, what combination of parts you have and so on, one way to get it right would be with it warmed up and running loosen it until it rattles, then tighten it until the rattling just stops.
