Does anybody know what the indentation on the left hand side of the camshaft that looks like a slot for a woodruff key?

I don't think that that's what it is for because my bearing go right over the top of it...

oh good, I knew there couldn't be a woodruff key on the cam. I wonder what the purpose of that slot is though.....

The slot at the left end of the shaft is likely used as a reference, during machining and assembly at the factory. The other index mark near the gear is also at the same rotary position. Both marks are at "0" degrees. Coincidence...............I don't think so!
