Carb holder

I purchased 2 new carb holders for my 79 xs 650 but they don't seem to fit? The new holders have a D1 inscribed and I noticed the old holder that wasn't split had a C6 number. It appears the inner raised rubber that fits snugly into the carbie is at different distances from each. Can anyone give me a clue on this.

You probably got BS34 manifolds by mistake. This is common because many sellers list their BS34 manifolds as fitting 650 carbs back to 1978, but it just isn't true. BS38 carbs (what you have) were used up through 1979, BS34 carbs came along in 1980 .....

Thanks 5twins, I expect your right. They were sold to me as being for 1979 but your images clearly show the BS 34's with D1 on the manifold. I will have to shop around again as I think these came from Japan, any idea where to start.
