I painted the old BS38s on the TX, they looked good with polished top and float chamber, but the paint lifted around the junction of the float bowl and carb body. I've spilt fuel on the motor, painted with the same paint and it held on well, so I reasoned it was because the paint on the carbs hadn't been cured by heat, whereas the motor had. So I painted an old float chamber and baked it in the oven at 200 for 50 minutes. After it cooled I sat it in petrol overnight and it held on. Today I painted the right VM and polished the cap and float chamber. Tomorrow I'll do the left carb and bake them both. I might stick some beef and potatoes in at the same time. Petrol flavoured roast beef and taties - yummm!
