got my carbs rebuilt and put in. turn the gas on and it only dribbles down the fuel line. pulled the line off turned on the petcock runs fine. if i seperate the line and petcock and fill the fuel line it fills, but not if there together. something i should look for before i pull the carbs back off??

how does the motor run? feel like it's running out of gas? you can verify that the carb bowls are filling up by using an external line (at least with bs34's, i don't have any clue on the bs38's).

If the float bowls are already filled, the gas line will have air in it until you run the engine for a while, that's normal behavior. The air trapped in the line cannot easily find it's way up past the gas and through the petcock. It won't bother a thing.
Remove the bowl drains, put a catch pan under the bowls, turn on the gas. Is gas coming out?
Hint cut up a quart oil bottle to fit under the carbs.
