I left the 1975 XS650 in the garage for a couple years and the carbs got gummed up with curdled gas. I removed and cleaned the carbs, now it will start, barely, but it won't run. acts like there is an air leak somewhere, but I cannot find it, any troubleshooting suggestions for balky carbs ?
thanks

You may need to clean the carbs again, better this time, lol. Many times you don't get all the passageway cleared out the first time around. Sounds like you didn't clear the choke jets (hard starting) or clear the idle circuit completely.

The choke jets are off to the side in the bottom of the bowls. If there's crud or gunk in the bowls and you apply the choke, the choke jets are the first thing to get plugged. Here's how to check them .....
