center stand spring

looking for any easy?safe way to install center stand spring on 83 heritage. the bike came with stand off but now have the pieces to re install. The spring is a short fat tough one. thanks

Put a bunch of washers in between the wraps of the spring to spread it out, pull them out with pliers after installed.
Works for me.

I connect the spring first, then wrestle the stand into place.
It's still a bitch, but a little easier.

EDIT: This method works with the muffler's off. Don't remember if it'll work with 'em on.

Put it in a vice and bend it over to put the washers in

Yes, me too. It works equally well mufflers on or mufflers off, stock exhaust anyway. Having the bike on the lift is most helpful.

looks good i will try the washer method. the mufflers are off(gone ) that will be the next issue thanks.
