Changing the Oil

So I've just dropped the oil from my new project,and it stinks of fuel,I'm thinking that's another reason the engine raced when I fired it up,would I be right in saying a petcock rebuild kit is in order,I presume it is leaving fuel into carbs and filled the pots and down into the sump,I had this on one of my GPz last year,

Either that or bad float needles and seats in the carbs, or a combination of both. It's easy enough to check the petcock. Pull the fuel line off and see if it really is off or still dribbling fuel.

Agree, check the needles and make sure they are seating, thought this was happening to mine too
