I recall reading about a quick electrical jump that turns the useless headlight indicator light into a charging indicator, can't seem to find it now. Anyone have a link to that thread?

It's on the 650garage.com site. The indicator light comes on when the bike is powered but the alternator isn't putting out. You can run the wire from the solenoid to the light to do it, or if you have a later model you need to catch it upstream of the clutch relay. If you want to keep the light's original function too, it takes a couple of diodes in addition to the wire.

I'll check over there. I saw a how to on it, it was an incredibly simple jumper wire under the right side air box cover between two connectors.

Yes, I did it. It's obvious but nifty. It uses the principle the solenoid doesn't have power if the "engine is running", meaning the generator putting out. So you have to have the relay that cuts power to the solenoid still in place to do it.
