Cleaning engine fins

Hi guys
Wee project well on its way hoping to get cylinder honed this week before I reassemble..I'm just at the cleaning stage which is a labour of love/hate..has anyone come up with a good way to clean and polish between the fins to make it shine ...also the bike is a 79 xs650se can anyone confirm carbs are mikuni 38s so I can order rebuild kits please

Unless you have an unusually well equipped workshop, farming this out is the best option. For the smoothest finish, I would recommend bead blasting followed by ball polishing.

Work shop is not to bad ..but don't have a sand or bead blaster considering getting 1 ...I also have fat finger and have no danger of getting them where they need to go
