My dogs will dig them up and kill them on occasion but they wont eat them. I asked the dogs why they don't eat them. They said they taste like earthworms.

Well, Feb 2017 was my first post in this thread which means it has been about a year since my vinegar/2-stroke-oil/gasoline experiment.
My tanks have held up very well - both the one on the bike and the empty one on the shelf.
My bike is parked inside - not sure if yall's are, but no rust has shown back up.
