hi guys ,,, i,m in the middle of removing the clutch inner and outer....to get to the bendix spring ... i got the mushroom head shaft and ball out .....am i able out the r h side ,remove the rest of the shafts and ball with a extendale magnetic rod??? all from the r h side ...and replace them with a singleshaft from mikes regards oldbiker

I actually had some very small rare earth magnets that came in a 10 pack from Harbor Freight that fit perfectly on the end of the rod. Put it on the end of the rod, slip it in the hole and pull out the ball. Man that sounds dirty!

The exposed portion of the short rod over on the left side by the countershaft sprocket usually gets all covered with chain fling-off - dirt, oil, grease, etc. That may stop it from being pulled through from the right and besides, do you really want to pull all that crap through your clutch pushrod seal? It would be better to stick the long rod in from the right side and push all the old parts out the left side.
