How de hell do you get this FUCKING thing to go in it's place?????!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Been struggling for two hours now, aligning everything up, making sure the lines on the bearings are in line with the body, but the big bearing on the right just does NOT want to go down. I tried on the other half as I thought it might be the wrong bearing, but it just slips in.

I'm building the engine upside down so I dont have to worry about getting the holes in the bearings to align, and also that the doglegs are right on the transmission gears.

Now I'm worried if I do build it right side up, I have only one chance to get it together, and there is so much that can go out of alignment. plus, I have no guarantee the FUCKING bearing will seat this time.

Please help, I have searched for an answer but I can't get one!!!

Are you talking about the camshaft or the crankshaft? If you are talking about crankshaft then with the cylinder studs pointing down you are working witht the top half of the cases and that has the alignment pins for the crankshaft bearings. What I did when I put mine together was to use a paint pen and put a small dot opposite the alignment hole in the bearing and use that to get the bearings in approximately the correct spot and then start at one end of the crank and rotate the bearings until each one "falls" into place. Sometimes it takes a bit of fiddling with them to get them all to line up. Good luck and you will get it.

IDIOT ALERT!!!!! When the manual says four of something, have a look!!!! There may be more than one place they need to go!!!!!! So that's two each side, so I put in FOUR SHIMS at that side instead of two!!!!!

THREE hours WASTED because I don't read properly!!!!!!!

There's a Viagra joke here somewhere ... Glad ya got squared away, we've all done shiete like that before!

Airwolfie, I was looking at the pic and wondered about the shims. I just went to my opened donor engine to check for you, but I am glad you spotted it. Yes, we all get ahead of ourselves - me guilty of that sometimes - but you got there. Brilliant.
