Custom air box??

Soo, has anyone made a compromise and built a custom air box?

I don't want to/can't run the stock air box as I am lowering the seat height, but it rains a lot here in Vancouver, so my compromise could be a custom air box.

Thoughts, pictures, convenient link where I can buy exactly what I need for 2 dollars including shipping?

take a set of the older standard sidecovers and cut/weld to fit/look good.

Really, you only need to worry about splash from the side/front.

Sounds like a simple but pratical solution, I'm now thinking about trying to build a quick assemble box to stick in a saddlebag for when it rains, not sure how it would look though...
