Hello all,
A couple of days ago I was going to remove the cam chain tensioner cap to make sure that little rod was moving in and out approximatley 1 mm. As I was loosening it I realized I was actually loosening a larger nut behind the cap. I think it is the entire tensioner assembly. When I realized what I was doing I stopped and put it back in (at unkown torque). Do I need to do anything else?

The nut under the cap is the adjuster. If you had taken the cap all the way off, you would have seen there is a 10mm nut on the end to adjust the tension. Your cap screws onto the threads of this.

The larger nut is the lock nut for the adjuster nut which is under the cap nut. Nutty huh? Just get a wrench to hold that in place while you take off the cap nut. Then loosen the larger lock nut, adjust the,... wait for it,... adjuster nut, then re-tighten the lock nut. Followed by the cap nut.
