Does your early 70-72 XS have factory dimples on fender?

Just wondering if this was something found on all early XS`s. My rear fender (72) just under the licence plate has 4-5 dimples, on the underside there is a brace that also has matching dimples , These look like factory weld dimples from a TIG clamp, from the outside they go in and from the underside they go in as well.
Seems odd they would then chrome it and find it acceptable.

Yep, my '71 has 'em too. Mine are staggered.

OK...Thanks, Mine are staggered as well. I was thinking of finding another fender so I guess I`ll keep this one.
Funny I thought the Japanese were pretty good at quality control, I guess it wasn't always that way.

Braces were spot welded. Mine also.
