Yup, my Betsea's 'done'! At least with modifications, aaaand just for this year. I've got a bit of gas leakage from the carbs so a rebuild is in order, but all is well other than that! Cam chain, valves & timing adjusted, carbs synched & UNI pods added & shes running great except for that drippy carb thing.
Stock seat pan recovered by a great local guy, I based it on a vietnam one I saw on ebay. Honda rebel shocks & a TC bros license plate mount on the back end & a reamed-out '77 xs360 fork brace painted black on the front. I mounted the stock tail light on the the TC bros piece with no modification & only had to drill two holes in the plate to mount it horizontally. saved $55 bucks over the cheapest model that comes with it's own tail light. Pretty satisfied for now, if I can say that :bike: I raised the forks back up to stock height so I could still use my kickstand (no center stand) with the lower stance from the rebel shocks.. i want to lower em back down though & finagle the stand somehow. We'll see. Anyway, it's my first xs650 & first street bike as well & all told I'm 1,400$ in so far, including gas & all the legal stuff/insurance for a year. Money well spent so far! glad I found this site & got some inspiration.

Hey thanks a lot Cobra! I changed the oil today & tilted the bars up to a much more chopper-style position than the racer-ish rake that they used to be tilted at. Muuuuch better ergonomics & riding position now.. more stylish as well. Put on about 30 miles in a fun loop, & all's well on the mechanical front! im content.
