Drum Brake Plate Swap

Hey Guys,
Looked for the answer to this question but couldn't find a clear one so here it is: Will a rear drum brake plate (the part that secures the shoes) swap from one year to the next?? Say a 72 plate on a 75 rear drum?

no 70 to 73, 74 to 76(with the brake lining switch) 77 and later if drum brake model, 81 was black painted could be stripped off tho'

They all do swap, I just checked my 73 plate on a heritage special hub. The early bikes had narrower swing arms and used a thinner spacer. Cut off the switch bracket and buff the plate as needed. they swap between (drum) mag and spoke wheels also.
