drum vs. disk

How fast do you like to go? You lose a little handling with the drum, and it has a strange feel if you're used to a disk. Especially in wet weather it has a "snatch hard then fade fast" character that isn't exactly the peak of controllable brake feel. It does look pretty cool though, if you're cool with those drawbacks then give it a try.

Drum weighs less, is easier to adjust (no bleeding) less flywheel effect on the rear, but the disc modulates better, and you can change up pad materials for different braking characteristics, but since the rear only provides about 30% of the available tractive stopping force, it's not that big of a deal. If you don't plan to run a front brake, carry an anchor, and a large life insurance policy.

Oh I guess he didn't say which end this was for. My post was assuming the front end, it makes a pretty big difference up there.

If you like to avoid prolonged hospital stays and/or death, there is no substitute for good strong brakes front and rear..................that means disc brakes at both ends.
