Went to adjust the timing on my 83 XS650 after installing a Pamco Ultimate kit. In order for me to get the timing marks to line up, I need to rotate the Pamco so far to the left that I have to remove the bottom screw that holds the Pamco plate on. Anybody ever have this issue?

antblyme,

1. Loosen the nuts on the ends of the advance rod.
2. Hold the PAMCO rotor hard clockwise as you tighten each nut.
3. This procedure will get you several degrees of additional movement and allow you to move the plate into a normal position.

Also, make sure that your timing light is connected to the negative spark plug wire. The dual output coil produces a positive voltage on one of the wires and a negative on the other. The timing light needs to be on the negative wire. If you are getting erratic timing jitter then you are connected to the positive wire. Either flip the clamp over or clamp it to the other spark plug wire.
