I wonder what the octane number would be, after removing the ethanol. I am pretty sure it will be lower, as ethanol has significantly higher octane number than pump gas (well above 100 RON)
I almost believe it. What I don't get, is why the ethanol has separated from the water when syphoned into the milk jug. In the large glass jar there was not 3 layers, gas / ethanol / water.
It’s a shame that ESSO in our South Wales area will be switching from ethanol free premium petrol beginning of September and going down the standard E5 route. Im going to full up my Jerry cans in August to get me through the winter.
