I spent three years looking for an XS that was A) close enough and B) cheap enough and C) in reasonable condition before I found my '79

In the last month there have been 2 on the local Craigslist that meet all three criteria, and today I durn near broke my neck whipping my head around to check a bike parked in a neighbor's (junk)yard.

Yep. Another 650. 80-ish, no tank, no seat, no side covers, FUGLY with corrosion on all the aluminum, but it turns over and he claims to have had it running. Definitely save-able.

Says he'd let it go for $400, which is just about twice what I'd pay for it, but as soon as his beer/pot/meth stash gets a little low, he'll come down. If he gets reasonable about the price, I might grab it just to have the spare parts.

Yes, you can't beat having a parts bike. I bought one out of a farmer's field a couple years back for $50. All that was missing was the rear wheel. Best $50 I ever spent on the 650, lol.
