Fork leg interchange

Is there a reference site somewhere where I can see if fork leg sliders (uppers) from one bike will work on another?

Or maybe someone here knows? My friend wants to use GS850 sliders on a 1981 CB750C DOHC...(not sure of the GS year) COULD this work, or rather, what should I be looking for while trying to swap them out?

I'm not sure on the CB750. But on the XS650 if you use the whole front end off the GS850 it might bolt on. You may have to swap the stem from the CB750 lower tree into the GS850 lower tree. Then it should bolt on.
Maybe someone with more knowledge can add there experence.
